Around the perimeter are a line of memorial plaques, one for each submarine lost, listing the names of the crewmen who perished. One such plaque, shown below right, is for the U.S.S. Sealion.

Over to the left side, there is a special memorial for two nuclear submarines which were lost during the Cold War, the U.S.S Thresher, and the U.S.S. Scorpion.
