Mission Viejo Veterans Memorial

Mission Viejo Veterans Memorial

dedication plaque
The Mission Viejo Veterans Memorial is dedicated to honoring residents of the community who served in the United States Armed Services to fight for freedom and preserve the blessings of liberty and peace for future generations of Americans.

The courage and sacrifice of veterans of major wars in modern American history is recognized with bronze reliefs for World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

With equal appreciation, Mission Viejo honors veterans of other conflicts and operations where American military personnel were called to arms to help people and protect the national security of the United States in Grenada, Lebanon, Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia, Haiti, and many other places around the world before and after the dedication of this memorial on November 11, 1995.

World War I
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the “war to end all wars” was officially over and the armistice was signed. The Germans surrendered on the basis of Wilson’s Fourteen Points. The armistice was greeted with joy over the world. The soldiers at the front broke into cheers. They ran across the barren and wasted no-man’s land. In the midst of the destruction there was a feeling of joy. The war was over!
