Special Order for Walter Wolf |
In 1963 Ferruccio Lamborghini set out to build the ultimate
driving machine. His vision did not include a luxury car or
an all out race car. His Lamborghini's were all about power,
speed and handling. The Lamborghini Countach is easily
recognizable for these traits.
Walter Wolf (a legendary Formula One team owner) ordered this
vehicle to his specifications. He had the factory add the rear
wing, flared wheel wells, periscope window, individually cast
magnesium wheels and one of his personally modified 5-liter
race engines. A 5-liter engine was designed for the production
Countach but it was unavailable at the time of Wolf's order. A
4-liter engine was going to be substituted until Wolf had his
own engine installed. Later Countach's sported some of Wolfs
modifications similar to the ones found on this car.
With the modified 5-liter race engine the car can attain a top
speed of 195 MPH and can reach 60 MPH from a standing stop in
3.6 seconds.
