The C-141 was the first all jet cargo aircraft ever built, the first jet aircraft used by paratroopers and the first to land in the Antarctic. It can carry vehicles, cargo, or passengers handling over 30 different missions and could carry 103 litter patients with a full medical staff. C-141s flew daily to Vietnam. In 1973 C-141s flew the 566 released POW's from Vietnam to the U.S. via Clark AFB. In 1977 the C-141's were converted to the "B" model adding 23 feet, a new wing root and in-flight re-fueling. In Aug. 1990 a C-141 was the first USAF transport to fly into Saudi Arabia. During Desert Storm C-141's flew more than 37,000 flights. This aircraft was delivered in 1966 and served at Travis AFB, McCord AFB, McGuire AFB and in 1995 to March AFB. It retired in 1998 with 43,570 flight hours and 23,705 landings. In Nov 1999 it was towed over to March Field Air Museum.
